A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas
3.0
[3 Stars] I have mostly the same thoughts as I did for the second book in this series, but I think this one is not quite as good as the last. Mainly the plot and some of the character development felt a bit off. I know this is Feyre's story, but some characters felt so stagnant and the plot was just a little too "ahh yes it's all gonna work out for our girlie now how lucky." However, even though the plot did not always work for me and I found the conclusions to certain character's story lines very wanting, I do absolutely adore these characters. Perhaps that is why I am a little disappointed. May be this book was trying to do and introduce too much at once? The last book felt more focused while this one sometimes felt like SJM was just leaving ends to explore in other books. ALSO, the phrase I was looking for in the last book review was Gender Essentialism. There is SO MUCH OF IT in this series, and it's not my favorite. Back to the positive though, I have two sisters myself and I adored the relationship we got to see between the three of them. Also, Tamlin? I liked seeing where that ended. Overall, enjoyable if flawed. I will also say, I skim/skip all the sex scenes. They are simply not for me.
