Reading this was very... educational. The romance was not to my taste and the spice even less so, but Lemming's style of writing is so much fun and that joy is infectious. I like that this book is confident in what it is: it doesn't take itself too seriously, but it doesn't try to downplay anything as cringey or embarrassing, either. It was unexpectedly liberating to read.

Cinnamon is a funny and charming narrator, which made the story entertaining to follow even if our taste in partners are remarkably different. As a result, this book is 50/50: loved Cinnamon as a protagonist, disliked the male lead, could not stand the sex scenes between them. (Although he was surprisingly wholesome for a murderous demon. Even I can't say that I was completely against him after hearing him beg her to stay with him).

With that being said: I would definitely read another book by Lemming if the male lead was a bit different, but this book didn't quite hit for me. Maybe in the future I'll read more romance?? I'm shocked at myself for even saying so, but it seems Lemming has helped me broaden my horizons!
