This was nothing like I expected, it was better. The various short stories were a roller coaster of emotions. You swing from sad to scared to disturbed. It was dark and beautiful even as you are left feeling uncomfortable.
Tiny unforeseen complication, as is common with books of short stories, each chapter ends with a little bio and often a booklist of the author. This is less complicated in a normal short story book where there are hits and misses. When it's all hits, your TBR just keeps expanding.
This is all Michael Gabon's fault!
