I really liked the mysterious atmosphere, the protagonists optimism, sense of wonder and connection to the place he lives in, as well as how the reader explores the house as well as his backstory with him. While I was intruiged by the pieces of the solution, I don't know if this was the best possible answer for me, however the book is more about the process than the result anyway. The strong presence of every part of the setting (the ocean, halls, birds, statues...) may be an even larger element of what makes the book so unique than the mystery. The book is absolutely worth reading as an experience.
