Go Hex Yourself by Jessica Clare

5.0

I’m kicking myself in the but for not reading this sooner. Go Hex Yourself was an absolute delight to read and its cast characters were wonderful.

Go Hex Yourself follows Reggie Johnson as she starts working as an assistant to Dru, an elderly woman who unbeknownst to her, is a 2000 year-old witch. As Reggie tries—and fails—to comprehend that magic exists, Dru’s nephew warlock Ben Magnus, who happens to be the most irritating man to ever exist and is set to annoy Reggie however he can. But as they spend more and more time together, sparks start to fly and lines begin to blur, as Reggie discover that maybe stoic and cold Ben might be a big softie underneath.

This book is the first installment in Jessica Clare’s new series Hex, which follows warlocks and witches as they find love in the most bizzarre scenarios possible.

There’s nothing I more than a good witchy romance featuring a grumpy and a sunshine, and may I say just how excellent that trope is in this book?! This is already an April favorite!

Thanks to its cast of characters and the well thought-out witchy plot line, Go Hex Yourself is hooking and charming. I loved Dru so much, her personality was funny, refreshing and so lovable. I had a blast every time she came on.

Reggie and Ben’s love story was a delight. When we meet them, they hate each other and were dead-set on avoiding one another. Reggie was just a confused woman who wanted nothing but get the job and do it, she didn’t need Ben’s prickly handsome self in the way. Ben was a cold and unbothered centuries old warlock who wanted nothing to do with his aunt’s annoying new assistant. But as the story continues we see them slowly but surely melting to one another and spending mor and more time together. They way they start opening up to each other, longing and wanting each other, was so incredibly wholesome. They start to peel layers off and the bond they formed was the best thing ever. The built-up sexual tension was killingggg me but in the best way, and the steam was so, so good.

This was such a cozy and wonderful read, I enjoyed ever second of it and I’m recommending you do to!
