Beach Read by Emily Henry
5.0
There were so many beautiful aspects of this book and amazing quotes to highlight that I don't even know where to begin with this review.
January and Augustus were the most likeable imperfect characters I have met in a book in a very long while. Their relationship just worked so well even though they were polar opposites and it was such a thrill to watch their love story grow, no matter the obstacles.
I have never quite read a story where a character is so sure that happy things will not last but still convinces herself that she'll be okay once they do. There was such a realistic feel to this that I couldn't help but grow attached to January and the way in which she views life, just like Augustus did.
I also loved how Emily Henry gave us tidbits of the story January was writing. I have to say, I cried at the ending of her Marconis book even though it was just a fictional book inside of this fictional book. Henry's ability to write about how beautiful the world is, despite all the darkness, truly left a mark on me. This is a story I'll want to come back to time and time again.
