The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams

2.0

Wonderful concept with potential. Unfortunately, the writing wasn’t up to the task. I’ve read most of the books included in the story, and enjoyed their plots being woven into the characters’ lives. There were some wonderful moments of book/reading/library swoons that are highly relatable.
However, I didn’t find the characters or their interactions developed or believable. The primary timeline was also much too short to make the character development attempts believable. The Patel family was more detailed and involved. Aleisha and her storyline were flat. Characters’ feelings were often told, but not demonstrated. Most disappointing for avid readers was Aleisha’s momentary railing against her newfound reading habit, and the weak resolution of the issue.
