Second beach read of 2019, and this book was criminally short. While I understood why this part of Carol's life was excluded from the Captain Marvel movie, I still wanted more of it and this book absolutely did not disappoint. I adored the character work in this novel - Carol's characterization, character interactions and growth, it was all so phenomenally done. If you're looking for a short read that reads easily, explores character headspace more so than a plot-drive and makes up for the lack of pilot Carol in your life/the movie, this is the book for you.
