The Mountains Sing by Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai

5.0

I am a sucker for multigenerational tales. This gave me a new view into the Vietnam war. Into the struggles they faced and into the culture there. I found myself googling things I hadn’t heard of and learning so much. But the pain that follows this family is so strongly felt that I hurt with them even after I put the book down. This was such a fantastic book. And in all that pain the hope they had was inspiring.
