All American Boys by Brendan Kiely, Jason Reynolds

I've been present to a lot of thoughts and feelings while reading this book. Thoughts about being a POC, being a NBPOC, and being an ally in itself. It made me dig deeper and really unpack all of my thoughts about racism, reflect on the true weight of it, which I thought I had deconstructed fairly well before. It made me question and look back at where I how I may be taking up space in situations that were not about me, and notice some defensive thoughts I was having as an ally "with good intentions". No, this book isn't about me, but it has certainly given me a lot to ponder, and I think I'm going to sit with that.
