The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux

5.0

A timeless piece for a reason!

This novel is a timeless piece for a reason, I watched the movie and been to the famous musical, while they were amazing, they didn't come close to the brilliance of the book! I was so emotionally invested in the novel, it captures the human nature, how people precieve the world and how the way we represent ourselves affects the way in which we are seen and regarded. The idea of being rejected and treated as a freak of nature is the main reason that Erik (the Opera Ghost) is the way he is. Being used and laughed at affected him in a terrible way. In contrast, the way Christine treated him, as a human being that is, set him free, broke the destructive cycle he lived in. I totally recommend reading this beautifully written novel and taking the time to enjoy every aspect of it.
