In August 1983, Nina Riva hosts her annual end of the year party at her cliffside mansion. The Riva siblings are a hot commodity as they are the children of famous singer, Mick Riva. Nina would rather be doing anything but hosting this party, after being publicly left by her tennis playing husband. Hud, is hiding a secret that may ruin the relationship he has with his brother Jay, who is hiding a lifechanging secret of his own. And the youngest Riva, Kit invited someone to the party without consulting her siblings first. By midnight, the party is out of control, and by the end of the night, the house will be up in flames.
This is my fourth Taylor Jenkins Reid book and I can definitely say that I am a huge fan of her writing style. She creates stories and characters that you become instantly engrossed in. I loved how this is told over the period of one night - but we also got chapters from the past sprinkled in as well. I like how we got POVs from all the siblings and others important to the story as well. I also enjoyed the POVs from random party guests as well, I think it was a fun way to tell this story. I like how each sibling had their own issues and problems they were facing and, were all flawed in some way. I love how they were so supportive of one another in the end, even if it took some time for them to get there. I really hope we get more books following these siblings, and where their stories took them. I need more of these characters!
