David Busch's Sony Alpha A6300/Ilce-6300 Guide to Digital Photography by David D. Busch
5.0
Having worked for some years as a technical writer of manuals, I probably enjoy reading manuals and also read them more critically than most. I enjoyed this one. It has a good clear structure, plenty of information and gets the right (and difficult) balance between consistent use of terminology and enough diversity to keep the text interesting. I would have preferred an icon each time one of Sony's menus is mentioned ('camera settings', 'custom settings' and 'setup' for instance a confusingly similarly) but that lies more on Sony's terminology that the writer. The text is very comprehensive and I think I only missed one piece of information, that is exactly what settings the various scene modes make. For instance, 'landscape' probably has increased sharpness, but now I'll have to find that out for myself. But that is just a niggle, in general, I enjoyed working my way through the manual and expect it to be a valuable reference in the future.
