The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel

5.0

i actually don't remember station eleven very well. i read it in a night (as in, started it at 7pm and had finished it by sunrise), but mustn't have liked it as much as i was supposed to, looking back at the 3 star rating i gave it. i do remember, however, how beautifully it was written; abstract time-wise whilst being very clear about what is physically happening.

the glass hotel is written in a similar manner, despite the enormous difference in genre, pace, and story. mandel manages to create storylines that focus on characters reacting to things, rather than focusing on story, and manages not to disorient the reader in doing so.

4.5-5 stars! and i can't remember the last time i read a 300+ page novel in three hours. i'm back.
