The Yellow Wallpaper and Other Stories by Charlotte Perkins Gilman

5.0

I read The Yellow Wallpaper and it has left a deep impact on me. The writing style of thia story pulls you in along with the vivid imagery that the descriptions send to your mind. This tale is about a woman's descent from depression to madness and how her voice ia subdued by all the men. Anything she has to say about her state is not given any importance and it is thought she simply has nervous energy. Both mental illness and importance of women in the society has been disregarded leading to the woman going completely mad in the end thanks to the notorious yellow wallpaper with its dull colour and intricate designs that the woman hallucinates about.

An excellent piece of work.
