Yumi and the Nightmare Painter by Brandon Sanderson

5.0

In between Sanderson books. The Internet gets to me, and my opinion of his books go down, due to prose, characters and pacing. But then I read another book of his, and I'm reminded why he's my all time favorite author. They may be Authors who do things better, but Sanderson will always be my favorite.

Putting that bias aside, I can confirm that Yumi and the Nightmare Painter is excellent. A sort of Anime styled RomCom, which at its heart, is fun, interesting, and most of all, heartfelt.

The Secret Projects were a way for Brandon to branch out and try new things, and so far of what I've read (Yumi and Tress). He's killed it. I really hope that we keep getting more interesting side adventures in the Cosmere in-between the heavy hitters of Stormlight and Mistborn.
