Illuminations by Arthur Rimbaud

4.0

"Everything turned to shadow and a passionate aquarium. In the morning, a bellicose dawn in June, I ran to the fields."

Reading a Rimbaud poem gives me the same sensation as gazing at a Surrealist painting.

"Adagio—Ah! The endless egoism of adolescence, studious optimism: how full of flowers the world was that summer! Dying songs and shapes... A choir, to calm helplessness and absence! A choir of glasses, of nocturnal tunes."

"Wise music is missing from our desire."
