My second Hendrix novel (first was Southern Book Club’s Guide…) and I continue to love his work! I originally thought this was adult horror and by the cover I was expecting classic 80s/90s horror elements. But I was pleasantly surprised at the YA tone and main focus of the story.

We’re following Abby and Gretchen’s friendship try to overcome the possession of Gretchen. The way Hendrix is able to capture the essence and vibes of the 80s through his writing is immaculate! My Best Friend’s Exorcism intertwines horror with comedy, drama, and even love. In a way, this gave a “cozy horror” reading genre — is that a thin or did Grady Hendrix just invent it? I don’t know but I absolutely love it!
