Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell
5.0
2023 reread:
I've decided that I love this book more than the other two, because:
• road trip
• amazing action scenes
• penny not being 'perfect' and burnt out
• baz and simons complicated? relationship (but god, they need to properly talk things out)
• shepard, the token Guy™
• the dragon woman and river spirit
• agatha's badassery at the end
• how it's written (the inner monologues etc.)
• fun, and also funny at times
I realise that I dont have any bad things to say about wayward son but then again, this means that i have to read awtwb next and i have a lot of shit to say about that :D! (i'll start with the ending of ws because awtwb's beginning does NOT address the 'problem at watford' until like 20 chapters later iirc)
_________
[circa 2020?] deez bois need therapy :(
Okay, I love this book, but it felt a little lacking (these two need to Communicate, for Crowley's sake) But anyway, I was surprised by Penny, as I always viewed her as the Strong Female Character. But that part when she breaks and cried a lot, it really hit me :( Poor Penny needs a break though.
I wanted more of Agatha too (Meine Liebe), and her not being the 'damsel in distress' all the time. Nonetheless, I love her. Still do. Always will.
AND SHEPARD FROMOMAHA! he's a really interesting character (and I love his General Nonchalance) stuck between the World of Mages and boring ol' Normal World. He's just a great guy!
I mean, there were still soft parts, badass parts, and what-is-going-on parts, and I really enjoyed them :) Still,,, hurting from the reading experience, though
