I've read a few books from H.G. Wells before and this has so far been my least favourite. I enjoyed book 2 better and I thought his description of the Martians was great. I did find the first part was very slow. The detail added to the realism of the situations which was cool, but really slows down any kind of "action" or story. Just felt like the first half lasted forever comparatively. Still, an interesting read.
