2.5 - I enjoyed the first couple books in this series. The third one slowed down a bit for me, but was still good. Unfortunately this one took it one step further. There’s a lot of slow politicking and could have been a couple hundred pages shorter. I was bored enough in the middle that I would have DNF’d if I wasn’t already invested enough to want to know the end result of this series.
I like the overall story, the magic systems and politics but I wish we had more perspective from the side characters - there’s some great opportunity to explore their stories further but we never really get it. We’re stuck primarily with the views of the FMC, and I’m
fed up with her.
