...why...and what happened?!

That's what I am currently feeling right now. After a fantastic volume 9 with considerable plot progression and character development, we get this volume.

I was not impressed with volume 10. I felt like Kousuke and Masahiro's plot fell short, as if the author doesn't know where to take their story now that volume 9 wrapped up quite a bit of the drama. Finally, Kousuke and Masahiro are living together, granted for a short period. Yet their story didn't progress beyond the fact that Masahiro is lonely and isn't used to not being surrounded by his friends and family. I don't understand why they wouldn't have the friends come over to the apartment to avoid this problem in the first place.

We did get quite a bit more about Kensuke and Hasekura's relationship, which I am grateful for. Yet, here is my tiff, if you wanted to focus so much on Kensuke and Hasekura, why not just continue creating volumes of Hitorijime My Boyfriend? It's not that I don't like seeing their romance grow, but isn't the whole point of this spin-off to focus on Kousuke and Masahiro?

I don't mind focusing on side characters once in a while, especially Yuge and Natsuo, who I am most interested in seeing develop into a relationship. However, when the volumes start to focus more on side characters and less on who the story is supposed to be about, to me, it signals not enough material on the main characters. So then why continue creating volumes focusing on them? The further we go into these volumes, the less we are given of Masahiro and Kousuke. I think it's time we sadly say "goodbye" to Kousuke and Masahiro for now and do spin-offs of the other side romances.
