Here we go again, second time around reading this book, but this time reading it as the illustrated collection version. I was already a fan of this book before back when I first read it back in December and I fell in love with Meghan’s writing and everything! If you’re a fan of Meghan Quinn, loved Lottie and Huxley’s story, I would highly recommend you check out this version so you get an actual look at some beloved and ahem spicy scenes we all know and love.
Reading this a second time, I was transported back into the story and I was able to pick up memories from when I last read it, but also develop new ones. Having this book in my hands was nostalgic but also felt new in a way I hadn’t seen it before from the first time. I love Lottie and Huxley and their story (once again) had me laughing, smiling, and fanning myself from their passionate, spicy romance! Phew those two really had strong stamina haha. I couldn’t get enough of these two and as per usual, the scenes in which they were fake engaged and had to act like a couple in love was humorous and needless to say my facial expressions went from jaw dropping to just straight up laughing.
Another thing I loved about reading this version of, “A Not So Meet Cute”, was not only was it amazing, but it was like a refresher on all things pertaining to Lottie, Huxley, and oh yes… Kelsey and JP… who happen to have their own book now *wink, wink. I intentionally wanted to reread this book in order to prep myself before reading JP and Kelsey’s book. Reading those parts where JP and Kelsey were clearly attracted to each other was great, and set little details which I’m sure will be fantastic in their own respective book.
Having read this again, I was able to pick up on some details that I may have missed the first time around, and familiarize myself with Lottie and Huxley’s personalities. Huxley was all about business and maintaining his company alongside his brothers. Huxley was all business and no pleasure (later on with Lottie.. definitely indulged in many pleasures!) and ruthless in trying to obtain the deal with Dave. Meanwhile, Lottie being unemployed no thanks to the ever so toxic Angela was faced with many problems she didn’t know what to do first. Separately, Lottie and Huxley were from different worlds, had different circumstances, but regardless over the course of the story you could see them becoming more comfortable with each other, and slowly back off from insulting one another.
Lottie and Huxley were amazing and I can’t say enough good things about these two. Lottie was sassy, business savvy, intelligent, strong and a real spit fire who could go toe to toe with the Alpha male Huxley. Huxley was pretty much a grumpy man who was determined, strong minded, blunt, and also business savvy. Together, Lottie and Huxley were able to bring out new sides of themselves that they had never shown to anyone before, and equally were able to open up about their fears, thoughts, and feelings. I’m a sucker for romance and Lottie and Huxley’s story delivered on all fronts from the humor, romance, and emotional development. Lottie and Huxley brought out the best in one another and complimented each other perfectly. Gosh I love these two so much!
The illustrations were WOW! Like… I felt like I was intruding on Lottie and Huxley, but like… I was fascinated and couldn’t help myself! Meghan knew what she was doing and gave us all the spicy-ness we were craving. I’m a woman and I know what I like! DO NOT SHAME ME! But also added another layer to the humor such as, Lottie and Huxley enduring the not so fun baby classes they took with Dave and Ellie haha. Anyways, if you can, I would say this is a wonderful edition to have.
