This book is just really bad. I was kind of excited for it because it was listed as a thriller and an Orpheus retelling but it's not really either of those things unless all it takes to be an Orpheus retelling is a bad thing happening after a character looks behind them.

No one in this book acts like a human and amazingly almost every character description is somehow offensive (there's a Black character who gets all the food descriptors and is also a kleptomaniac, an Japanese woman that one of the only things we know about her is that she eats sushi in bed, multiple cruelly described fat butches, and a woman with a degenerative visual impairment that somehow makes her psychic). Also can't believe that the same fatal accident occurs in the exact same location twice - no new safety precautions after the first time??
