Already within the first few chapters, I was already hooked and curious to find out more about Piper and the ever so stoic Mr. Harrison Cole. Piper, an elementary school teacher was living her day to day life working and providing/ taking care of her mother, while Harrison was working as a bodyguard to the royals, the Duke and Duchess of Fairfax. Both Piper and Harrison were from completely different worlds, but due to a small encounter chance, fate brought them together in a way they never imagined.
Right away from the beginning, it was clear that Piper was dealing with a lot. From trying to balance her work/ personal life of taking care of her mother, who suffered from personality disorder and dependent disorder. Piper was always trying to put the sake of her mother’s before herself. Piper, bless her soul, was always the mediator, trying to ease her mother’s fears (Piper’s mom suffered from paranoia occasionally as well). Aside from taking care of her mom and working, the only thing that Piper had for herself was her podcast, “Romancing the Podcast”, which by the way, if this was a real podcast I would want to listen to it! Piper was sweet, sassy, smart, loving, and overall a beautiful person inside and out. For all the times that Piper was usually calm and collected, there was one person who managed to bring out her sass and fire, and that was the man known as, Harrison Cole.
At first glance, Harrison Cole looked like an incredible, handsome man. One who was quiet, reserved, and ready for anything, especially when it came to his job in protecting the royals. Harrison was the kind of man that lived by a code, and nothing or anyone would get in the way of him trying to accomplish his goal… that is until Piper Evans showed up. Harrison was definitely a grumpy man, who initially wasn’t sure about Piper, but eventually his grumpy attitude started to dissolve and he fell head over heels, all smiles for our precious Piper.
Originally Piper and Harrison kind of gave an enemies to lovers vibe, since they would give little witty remarks to one another, and along with that their growing attraction to each other made for some amazing tension (if you get what I mean, wink). Piper and Harrison had this buildup that culminated into a burning passion, and when they finally gave into their feelings for each other, it was like fireworks going off, and I absolutely enjoyed reading the scenes between them, sweet and spicy! Harrison may have seemed like a quiet and reserved bodyguard, but when it came to Piper, he let all his control let loose, and it was mighty deliciously to read about. I absolutely loved Piper and Harrison together, I thought they complimented each other very well. Not to mention aside from the stellar chemistry between them, both Piper and Harrison supported one another, understood each other like no one had before they met. Despite being from different parts of the world, Harrison and Piper understood one another and could relate to each other’s struggles they had faced.
Overall, this was an amazing book! I fell in love with both Piper and Harrison! This story had, bodyguard trope, grumpy/ sunshine, small town vibes, mental health/ illness themes, strong, lovable female lead, and a dreamy, gorgeous British man. I can totally picture myself reading this again in the spring, summer, or basically anytime or day because this book has absolutely stolen my heart. Loved this story times infinity!
