Darkangel by Christine Pope

3.0

This falls somewhere between 3 & 3.5 stars.

I read this as part of a group of an 11 book bundle from Kindle and naturally it ends on a cliffhanger! It may be a Kindle formatting thing, but I had an issue with the scene changes and that there was no spacing between paragraphs when that happened so I was briefly confused each time it happened.

Over all I liked this and zoomed through it a lot faster than some of the other things in this bundle. It reminded me of a combination of Practical Magic and Charmed with bits & pieces of A Discovery of Witches (the All Souls Trilogy) thrown in. Angela was not ignorant of her powers (like on Charmed), but she reminded me a lot of Piper when they lost Prue and she was sort of set adrift for a while. Angela is definitely not as mentally strong as any of the Halliwells and in that aspect reminded me a little more of Sally from Practical Magic--not so much reluctant to use her power, but just not completely comfortable in the roll she is set to play.

I would like to read the next books, but as they are not in the $0.99 (or free) category at the moment & the library only has audiobooks (no thanks), that won't happen for a while.
