The Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge by Rainer Maria Rilke
4.0
all in all, a moving novel from one of europe's greatest poets. profoundly philosophical and introspective. the book's genre is as difficult to determine as are the lines between author, character and reader - but by the end of the book, one feels as though taken a voyage through the interwoven narratives and revelations deep into the human heart and psyche. it may not be the most exhilarating experience for all, that i can understand, and this book is definitely not a transit-read – but it would i think be a shame to not read at the very least a handful of pages if one has ever loved - either another, or poetry, or even philosophy.
