Animal Farm by George Orwell
4.0
I actually weirdly enjoyed this book? One of the first school-required readings that I did.
So, I'm not a big fan of historical fiction or historical retellings (Animal Farm is based on the Russian Bolshevik Revolution). USUALLY. But this one was actually rather intriguing.
I liked how Orwell used animals to represent the minority, the actual citizens, the pigs to represent the Bolsheviks, and the humans as the original leaders (Jones represented the Czar at the time). Not only was the story interesting, but the writing was as well. It wasn't flowery as I expected a Brit to be and it conveyed the emotions of the story. It also did a great job presenting that Revolution in easy-to-understand terms.
The only thing I disliked about it was how long it felt. It was boring for a few of the chapters. But overall, very well done.
