I’ve been a fan of Adrienne Young since I read Spells for Forgetting and loved everything about the way she writes but this book will now forever be a favourite.
The Unmaking of June Farrow is a beautifully written story of loss, love, mystery and most importantly family. The writing was so exquisite in the way it takes us on a journey of the Farrow women and the curse that has always followed them. Each of the farrow women were written in a unique and distinguished way that captured their personalities and quirks, June was an amazing character to follow as we unravelled the mystery of the past from her point of view.
The heartbreak and emotion I felt on every page as June found herself back in a older timeline that she didn’t remember with faces of people who knew her but she had no recollection of was written so well. I am always worried that with time travel books I usually find myself confused and hard to keep track of but I really didn’t find that with this book as the author worked it seamlessly into the storyline that made it easy to understand.
I never saw the twists and turns coming and I loved that we had this mystery about a murder of a man that June finds herself a suspect of but doesn’t remember. Every moment of this book is poignant it is a story that focuses mainly on family and that of loss, acceptance and love. This book and the story told within its pages will forver stay with me. I highly recommend this beautifully written book.
