Anhedonia: A Ring of Fire sequel by Stevie Rae Causey

5.0

Really?!

The sequel to A Ring of Fire had me on the edge of my seat.

This takes place sometime after Azlana is suppose to have the Awakening, which happens when elven turn 10. They are still at war and she knows nothing of her father's heritage. Then tragedy strikes the Mystics' land and Cazlyn has come to set a plan into play. Abruptly leaving their home, Azlana and her mom, Kala, are enroute to be hidden and for Azlana to be taught and prep to lead the Mhstics & The Alliance throughout this war. But little do they know she carries a burden with her. It's not what you think and it plays a major role with Azlana.

This book is fast paced and I'm eagerly waiting for book 2. It established a good foundation, especially if you didn't read the prequel, A Ring of Fire. War wages on between Humans and Mystics. There are spies on both sides and two groups are the main contenders, The Elite (loyal to the King) and The Alliance (loyal to bringing peace to all). The introduction to it all holds secrets, betrayals, curiosity, family drama, and adventure. Causey writes well and doesn't skip a beat with the plot. It's fast paced and keeps you reeled in; you won't even know it's the end until the paves don't swipe or turn anymore!

AND ...
Of course this ends on a cliffhanger! I honestly believe there is more to Luka than meets the eye. Also, I'm curious as to see what the significance of the color green is and what Brian's true intentions are.
