The best way I can describe this book is: masterfully crafted. This is my first read from R. F. Kuang and most certainly won't be the last. I was engrossed in this book from start to finish on multiple fronts. The world-building was extraordinary, the character work exemplary, the writing poignant, and the commentary utterly compelling. Rare have I found a book that I in equal parts respected and loved.
