Benji never let anyone get too close, and then he was compelled to save Makena. Makena never expected anyone to save her, and then Beni wouldn't take no for an answer. Can two broken hearts fix each other?

This was a pretty good story. Both the NC's backstories were pretty heavy, but it balanced along the way. Benji and Makena both got blessed with found family and it connected them. I loved that aspect of the story. The two of them circled each other, afraid to lean and trust but it was nice to see them realize it was meant to be. Parts of the story were in danger of being too dramatic for me--I don't always need shock value--but it turned out good. Good story.
