ehhh... i understand the points Bogutskaya is trying to make, but they weren't very effectively written. like other reviewers point out, this entire book felt more like an excuse for the author to infodump about their favorite and least favorite pieces of media than an in-depth look at how certain tropes fit into, and have influenced, a larger culture. as fun as it was, i just don't feel that there is enough substance to this book to do what the author intended. with that being said, i will definitely be checking out some of the movies and tv bogutskaya references -- seems like they have good taste!
