The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins
4.0
Snow lands on top.
I once had a review in which I said: "It's been a while since the last time I cried over a character's death" (without a name or anything, I, myself, can't tell about whom I was talking back then) and someone commented like furiously that "A SPOILER ALERT WOULD BE NICE!"
So, I'm not going to hide the review 'cause I'm not gonna talk about the ending, or give away names or details, but if you are that sensitive, please do not read my review, thank you.
So, yeah. it hurts. Really, my heart actually aches, I really forgot the pain. The story was lovely, I loved the songs, I even tried to sing some of them (the result was hideous but that was just my voice, sorry Suzanne Collins!) and man, I'm impressed! She is so smart! She figured it all out! I really envy her. I know for a fact how difficult it is to write about something before the trilogy and make it sensible, hell, make it surprising to the last bit. It was surprising, even though I knew at least one character's destiny and also self-spoiled part of the journey, still I was caught off guard. I love being caught off guard!
So, that's it, thank you for my suffering, Suzanne Collins and have a pleasant night!
