This book had it all from, passionate romance, sizzling hot encounters between the main leads, formula one racing, angst, dark mysterious pasts, and characters trying to put themselves back together.
Shanen Ricci’s, “Significant”, was a well written story that had the right amount of everything that readers would enjoy (myself included). I was captivated when I saw an aesthetic video illustrating the plot of this book, and when I saw this story had formula one racing and an alpha man who screamed, “don’t touch her, she’s mine” vibes, I immediately went online and ordered this book.
Elle, the main character, was a sweet person who preferred to remain invisible, she didn’t like having the attention on her because, she believed it was better to play it safe in all aspects of her life. Right away, Elle meets Aaron LeBeau, top formula one racer, bad boy, and womanizer. Aaron had this charm and essence to him that drew Elle in, and as much as Elle tried to deny her attraction to Aaron, in the end she couldn’t resist him. The chemistry between Elle and Aaron was apparent from the beginning, both of them had dark pasts that left them scarred, and traumatized. There were some glimpses in the beginning that gave us an idea on what each character went through, but it was more of Aaron’s past that was a big mystery.
Aaron was the alpha man who got exactly what he wanted, but with Elle he had to work harder. Elle wasn’t the typical woman that Aaron was use to, Elle even said herself that she wasn’t another easy conquest for him. Not going to lie, I did enjoy whenever Aaron got possessive over Elle, it’s some innate desire that we women (some, not all) enjoy seeing a man get protective or try to claim what’s his in front of others, and Aaron definitely fell under that category for Elle.
This book wasn’t just all spice, it had a good balance of a good storyline to go along with the romance. I always appreciate when stories have more depth to them than just keeping surface level. Shanen did a great job of writing this story that encompassed all things I loved which were, the passion, the romance, the angst, some drama, good storyline, and character who had depth to them.
I loved the format of the story being split in two parts, the first being Elle’s point of view and then the second Aaron’s. By creating the story in two parts, it allowed for Elle and Aaron to each illustrate their perspective and highlight details to the readers. By the end of the first part, I was feeling emotional alongside Elle, broke my heart, but also for Aaron as well.
Overall I enjoyed this book and if you’re a fan of formula one racing, an alpha male who’s morally gray, a passionate romance, spice, and more, you’ll love this book.
