Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin
5.0
4.5
after finishing this book, i needed good 24 hours before i sat down and wrote this review because this book genuinely left me in shambles.
i went into this blind (as i often do) and had no idea it would be this much of an emotional rollercoaster. i thought it would be a cute romance. IT WAS NOT. i wouldn't really even classify it as a romance, it's more of a coming of age story, following the lives of three friends. i loved it. i probably would never read it again, because it literally tore my heart out. but i am so so glad i got to read this book. what a fucking phenomenal read, i have never read anything like this. and i've read a LOT of books. you know a book hits you hard when you search up a playlist on spotify dedicated to the characters in it after you finish reading.
the switch between different povs and different periods of time was done in such a smart way. i made this a 4.5 instead of a full 5 stars because it was hard to read at times, for different reasons. i read this over the course of about 2 weeks instead of a few days, and i don't often say this, but i think that honestly added to the experience. the book spanned over a long period of time, and i felt everytime i picked the book back up, i grew a little more with the characters.
i learnt so much from this book, i took away so much from it. everything was so vivid that it felt like i had finished a 10 book series instead of one singular book.
i suddenly have a newfound appreciation for video games lol. i've only ever really played games like the sims, minecraft or animal crossing, but this honestly made me want to play games that i had never thought of playing before.
anyways, im emotionally unstable now. this review probably makes no sense because i honestly can't form proper thoughts and words. this one was all over the place
but please read this and then we can discuss. i dont know why it touched me so much, but i like thinking that your experiences and mindset really influence how much a book affects you. and i saw a lot of myself and my past experiences in this one.
