I often make notes while I'm reading a book for review purposes. I wrote I don't know at the top and left it there. I was rooting for Vanessa so deeply from beginning to end. I think for that reason I could have read it in one sitting.

However, every few pages I had to stop and breathe because I found my self holding my breath at some scenes. This is not a romance nor a happy story/ending. It's what the title reminds us-dark.

This is an eerie and accurate portrayals of a manipulative, abusive relationship with a pedophile. I've spent hours in my own head with my past and with debating whether I want to rate this five stars or lower. So, the rating may change. Either way I'll be thinking about this book for awhile.
