Lynn Painter's latest rom-com follows Sophie Steinbeck, as she hires a professional 'objector', Max Parks, to interrupt (and ultimately stop) her wedding to her cheating fiancee. Months later, Max asks Sophie to join him at weddings as an objector. What follows is two love-cynical individuals in an unusal partnership to save others from an impending disasterous marriage.

Painter gives us an utterly delightful, hilarious story with HAPPILY NEVER AFTER. The premise of this story is so original, and her characters are charming and realistic. The chemistry between Sophie and Max is palpable from their first meeting, and that chemistry builds and builds throughout the book (even as they insist to remain 'just friends').

This story was the perfect mix of sweet and spicy. It is quick-paced with well-developed main and supporting characters. Our leads have amazing banter that had me laughing throughout the entire book. Contemporary romance lovers will enjoy this modern and realistic love story. This was a joy to read and something I will be picking up again and again.
