The Iliad by Homer

5.0

I have read this in full at least twice, in part at least four times. It has been sitting on my currently reading shelf for entirely too long so I'm taking it down. I do plan to read the whole thing again sometime (relatively) soon.

Death! Bloodshed! Detailed metaphors! Detailed descriptions of wounds! Rivalry! The city of war and the city of peace, Hektor and Andromache, the wine-dark sea, Achilles' rage, Patroklos' kindness, Nestor's cunning... such a wonderful book for which I will not try to write an eloquent review.

Read in English in the Lattimore translation. Read parts of books 1, 4, 9, 24 in Greek.
