River Woman by Katherena Vermette

4.0

Katherena Vermette's free verse poetry is meditative and powerful. Both subject and form aim to decolonize. This collection starts with a section "black river," which includes poems about love and nature. "Red river" is focused on Manitoba's Red River as a feminine power. The final section is more overtly political, an indictment of colonization and a call for understanding and action.
