i loved this book, which is all the more remarkable given that i accidentally jumped into this sixteen book series at number fifteen. while fifteen disappointed, sixteen delivered big time.

for the first time in a while i found myself wanting to read a book in the middle of the day instead of just at bedtime, as is my routine. this novel is a lovely tribute to paris as well as the gamache family, but most importantly it has a wonderfully layered mystery at its core.

in their review for a better man, another reader mentioned that with louise penny books, you simultaneously want to devour it as quickly as possible, while also never wanting it to end. i certainly felt that with this book and i look forward to starting the gamache series from the start sometime soon.
