Rhys Larsen works a bodyguard and he has two rules: 1. Protect his clients at all costs 2. Do not become emotionally involved. Ever. He has never once been tempted to break those rules in the past. This is until Bridget von Ascheberg comes along.
Bridget is of royal blood, a princess with a stubborn attitude and her and Rhys drive each other crazy. His overprotective nature and her carefree nature clash. She’s nothing he expected.
Bridget breaks down Rhys’ walls until he’s faced with a truth he can no longer deny: he will break one of his rule.
Bridget finds herself bound by the chains of duty, but dreams of the freedom to live and love as she chooses. But when her brother abdicates, she’s suddenly faced with the prospect of a loveless, politically expedient marriage and a throne she never wanted. She is yo become queen. She wants Rhys but it is forbidden. Bridget navigates the new role, but she must also hide her desire for the man she can’t have. Her bodyguard. Shes going to do whatever she can to make sure she can have Rhys because theirs is a love that is meant to last.
This book is a contemporary romance with all the tropes. Grumpy x Sunshine, forbidden love, protector. The story about the royal rules and politics was very interesting and the love story between Bridget and Rhys is complicated with many layers.
Definitely a spicy read. The book switches between Bridget and Rhys point of view so you understand the complexity and how they are both feeling.
Im very excited to continue this series!
