Ignite by Lily Paradis

I've already heard a bit about Lily Paradis - mainly because Melissa wouldn't shut up about her awesome books, haha - but this one was on my TBR list for quite a while now. I just love the cover and was really intrigued by the blurb of it, so I had to give it a try!

If my rating would be based on the characters only, I'd probably give the book 5 stars - or at least close to that! I got really attached to everyone in this book, probably the most to Dean Powell and little Emma. She's extremely cute and I loved her right from the beginning. Same applied to Dean. He's just ... ugh. Lily likened him to Henry Cavill but I never imagined him to look like that. In my head Dean looked more like ... well, the guy from the Hopeless cover by Colleen Hoover. Yep, I pictured him like that. And it's even fitting because as far as I know he's also called Dean? I think so.

"I never wanted to kiss anyone more than I did when Dean Powell opened his beautiful, sleepy eyes and looked at me."

Anyways, I also liked Lauren. I just couldn't connect with her that easily because her actions not always made sense to me. There were a few scenes in the book where I questioned what, how or why just happend. It confused me to no end, so that's something I didn't really like. On the other hand, she's been trough a lot and suddenly her life changes completely. I don't know if I would have been able to adapt as quickly as she has but considering everything that had happened I think you could be proud of her.

I wasn't really sure if I knew where Lily was going with the plot but in the end I quite liked how everything turned out, even though it seemed a bit too rushed at times. The relationship between Dean and Lauren was something fresh and new to me, because even though there was an insta-attraction, it was all real slow and absolutely not rushed. I really liked that! It got also pretty emotional towards the end when they talked about their feelings and about Lauren's dad and what he always knew would happen ... heartbreaking but also made me happy.

"I love you, Lauren Lindsay. I want to kiss you more than I want to breathe, but I don’t want you to think you’re just another notch in my belt. You’re not. You’re it for me. I want you to have everything and I want to make sure I’m good enough for you. You deserve more than who I was."

Overall I enjoyed this a lot! I probably expected something different but wasn't disappointed or so. I would recommend this to lovers of romance books who don't mind adding another book-boyfriend to their lists! If you haven't read it, go ahead and do so! I'm excited for the second book (Arclight) out of Dean's POV. :D
