Logan is unexpectedly made guardian of her estranged childhood best friends three children, the family of said best friend are less than happy with this and try to put up road blocks....all accept for Alvaro the best friends older brother who gets roped into staying with Logan and the kids whilst they transition and the story goes from there.
This is my first book by this author and will give more of her work a try, but this left me wanting more. For me, there was a big disconnect between the heavier themes this books tried to centre on and how they were written. These characters have lost a friend/family member & parent, and I wasn't made to feel anything of real depth for them or the situation they were in. Everything was glossed over and felt very surface level and rushed... it felt like it was trying too hard to make you feel but also not enough at the same time. This had potential to be emotionally impactful but it just didn't go there, the focus became the insta lust between Alvaro & Logan and them wanting each other physically and because the time to develop that wasn't taken either that too left me feeling indifferent. I listened to the audiobook for this on Everand, Vanessa Vasquez & Noah B Perez narrate, and I enjoyed their performances, I just wish the subject matter of this story had given more than it did. 🌶🌶
