This book is amazing. I read a chapter at a time to let the parts settle. Whitehead zooms into different points in American history. The present is late 1990s but the pivots are intricately connected. The myth of John Henry and the song meet up with the man. There’s also a lot of loneliness here as the characters struggle to find real connection. A solid read in a time of pandemic.
