While there are times that the writing shines through strongly with this book, it’s still very much feels like a debut novel for the majority of it. There will be times where the prose is quite beautiful, followed closely by some quite awkward writing, either in the misuse of certain vocabulary words, or the overuse of them. There were a number of things that were confusing and not made completely clear over the course of the novel. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the characters and I do think there is promise for growth in Page’s writing.
