Desires of the Dead by Kimberly Derting

3.0

Violet's ability to sense the echoes of the dead leads her to find another murdered body in this second book of The Body Finder series. Despite Violet's efforts to report the body anonymously, it turns out that she needs to work with an FBI agent. She is faced with the dilemma of keeping her special ability a secret or choosing to trust others with it. Not to mention, she was terrorized by someone at school who had hatred towards her and threatened her relationship with Jay.

Still a page-turner like the first book, and it has a gripping and promising start. I became accustomed to the setting and characters, as Violet no longer struggles with her feelings towards Jay. However, I find her character to be rather annoying now. Keeping secrets from Jay, but then she wants to be understood only with her incomplete explanation. And also she keeps doing something stupid like following the echoes alone when she herself knows that the situation wasn't safe.

Jay is still the best part of the book, and the FBI newcomer is a fascinating character. I hope to see him more, maybe in the upcoming books?
