The Girls by Emma Cline

4.25

A book about the enchantment of love and beauty. Evie telling the story retrospectively gives the story a nostalgic and warm feeling, like it is all one blurry memory she wishes she could transport herself too.
the murders felt out of character for the girls honestly, which is the only reason I don't want to rate this higher. I also feel like Evie was portrayed as kind of going with the flow ALL THE TIME, which I get but I didn't like that she exerted no control in sexual situations. I would have liked to see her character do something about the situations she was in, instead of just float around through life. This is a critique of Evie as a person, not of the plot/ character development, as I understand her floating through the ranch was on purpose.
Overall a really great read.
