The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
5.0
I feel a lot like Charlie myself right now, writing a mini essay in review [one] of my next favourite books. Woof. I don't really know what to say except this book is amazing and I'm going to go out and by my own copy ASAP.
Trigger warnings: domestic and relationship violence, suicide, homophobia, racism, pedophilia/child abuse, marajuana, death (car accident)
Wowza, look at all those triggers. After typing that I would have thought I had read a way more violent book than I had. Chbosky writes his story beautifully and graciously, touching on the above topics with words that really make you think.
Through a series of letters over the course of a school year, we get to know Charlie. This novel follows Charlie as he navigates friendships, loneliness, depression, and general life from his outsider perspective.
Much love for this book!
