Spellbound by Cara Lynn Shultz

I have been on such a great book streak! I think this is 3 or 4 books in a row that I have absolutely LOVED! This is the way reading should be; I should finish reading a book with a big smile on my face. That is what happened when I finished Spellbound. I could not stop smiling. I just loved the book. I loved Brendan, I loved Emma, and I loved the story.

I have really been into books about witches and the supernatural lately, and this one did not disappoint at all. It had age old curses and some spells and lots of excitement. Not to mention the totally sigh worthy Brendan. Seriously, how perfect did he seem? He was such a nice guy, genuinely nice. You don't see too much of that anymore in YA; now people like to write about the dark, mysterious bad boy. And don't get me wrong, while I do love a bad boy once in a while, I always catch myself gravitating back towards the nice good boy. I remember thinking to myself early on in the story, "wow, Brendan seems too good to be true" and then crossing my fingers that he was that good. And the attraction between Emma and Brendan was too cute. I loved reading about it and I could not get enough of it.

The one thing I did not like so much were the length of the medieval stories. I know they were needed to get background information about the necklace, but I thought they dragged on for too long. When I was about 75% done with the side story, I had had enough of it. I think this was because I wanted to get back into the main story and back into the Brendan and Emma action. But honestly the rest of the story is so amazing that it really overshadows the few pages you have to plod through of background story. Its totally worth it!

I loved how this story ended but I want more of it! I'm not sure if there is going to be another book about Brendan and Emma, but I sure hope there is. There was an excerpt that seemed like it was going to be from Angelique's point of view. This could be really cool, since I liked her character, but I really want to see more of Brendan- so I hope he is still a main player in the next book.

You need to buy this book on June 28th! You will not be sorry!
